Born in London in 1973, Peter Andre's parents moved the family to Australia's Gold Coast when Andre was 6, where he began writing songs from an early age with his brothers, Chris and Michael. When he was 16, he was offered a record contract after appearing on a TV talent show, and he released his first single in the UK, called “Only One”, in 1992, which reached No.16. “Mysterious Girl” was Andre's breakthrough single, getting to No.2 in the UK (No.8 in Australia) in 1996 before his debut album, Natural (1996) got to the top spot, and also gave him his first two No.1 singles, “Flava” and “I Feel You”. His second album, Time (1997), wasn't as successful, only reaching No.28, but he still got three Top 30 hits out of it - “All About Us”, “Lonely” and “All Night All Right”. His 1998 single, “Kiss The Girl”, from the soundtrack to The Little Mermaid, was his last single before his record company dropped him and he decided to take a break in Cyprus, where he had family.
In 2004, Andre returned from hiatus to appear in ITV show I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here, where he met his wife-to-be, glamour model Katie Price (aka Jordan). Upon his return from the jungle, Andre re-released “Mysterious Girl” and it went to No.1. His follow-up, “Insania”, got to No.3, but his comeback album, The Long Road Back, could only limp to No.44 in the album charts. In 2006, Andre and his now-wife, Price, released the album A Whole New World, with the cover single reaching No.12 in the UK charts.
Andre began working on his next album in 2008, but his marriage to Price was crumbling and the creative process was delayed, with Revelation eventually being released in September 2009. The lead single, “Behind Closed Doors”, reached No.4 in the UK singles chart, and marked Andre's re-emergence into public life after the stresses of his very public divorce. In 2010, he released the album Unconditional: Love Songs, which was heavily promoted by Andre's numerous appearances on UK TV chat and magazine shows. Andre then embarked on the challenging UK festival circuit, appearing at T4 On The Beach, Midlands Music Festival and the V Festival, all in 2010, before going on his own 38-date tour. His next album, Accelerate, was released in November 2010, backed by a 14-date tour in the December.
A further album and tour is expected in 2012.
