Jersey Boys will be in London. They will appear at Piccadilly Theatre on March 4th, Piccadilly Theatre on March 17th.
Based around the turbulent career of legendary Sixties group, The Four Seasons, Jersey Boys is a musical rollercoaster of love, loss, and triumph over adversity, and details the rise and fall of Frankie Valli and his legendary bandmates. Suitably structured around four 'seasons', the first act is narrated by Spring ('Tommy DeVito') and Summer ('Bob Gaudio'), and the second act by Fall ('Nick Massi') and Winter ('Frankie Valli'), which each character giving the story of the band's career from their own perspective. Featuring such erstwhile hits as “December 1963 (Oh What A Night)”, “Sherry”, “Big Girls Don't Cry” and “Working My Way Back To You”, the show deftly plays out big moments like the band getting friendly with the Mafia, actor Joe Pesci's involvement in getting the band together, and the numerous brushes with the law endured by almost every member of the group.
First performed in San Diego in 2004, Jersey Boys moved to Broadway in 2005 and won a Tony Award for Best Musical in 2006. The show then went on a US tour where it consistently sold out, before the production finally arrived in the West End in 2008, winning the Olivier Award for Best New Musical, and where it still runs at the Prince Edward Theatre. A Las Vegas production has been running at the specially-built Jersey Boys Theater, since 2009.
The London cast of Jersey Boys appeared at the 2008 Royal Variety Performance and, in 2010, the proceeds from one of the shows went to Children In Need.
